VPP Can Still Prosper Regardless Budget Concerns

The VPPStore Team would like to help address the concerns of future funding for VPP.  In recent news, the proposed budget for OSHA FY 2011 proposes a $3 million decrease in funding for compliance assistant programs.  This announcement took place on Monday February 1, 2010 from Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.  You can see a video of the announcement and all documents relating to the budget by visiting http://www.dol.gov/budget/

Both Hilda Solis and OSHA Administrator David Michaels voiced their support for VPP.  It is more than a recognition program and they value the constructive improvements and progress in workplace safety that VPP promotes.  David Michaels even took a step towards working together with the Voluntary Protection Program Participants’ Association (VPPPA) in finding new ways to help fund the program.

VPPPA Executive Director Davis Layne was featured in a video clip released by the VPPPA addressing his concerns about the future funding for VPP.

Regardless of the concerns around the proposed budget for 2011, VPP will continue to thrive.
