Bechtel Corporation’s revenue rose by 18 percent to $32.9 billion, and it reduced its lost time and recordable incident rates by 20 percent, top management reported April 11.
“Numerous projects achieved zero accidents in 2011,” Chairman/CEO Riley Bechtel and President/COO Bill Dudley wrote in the report’s letter to shareholders. “While our performance improved, each project will continue its pursuit of zero accidents and will continue to recognize safety as its most important value.”

This milestone is marked by the VPP Worksite flag that is presented by OSHA officials to the plant. This status acknowledges them as a model for their industry in excellence for health and safety programs.
